Minister hails move as ‘perfect example’ of transition to green economy

Magtec is opening a state-of-the-art factory for the design, manufacture and integration of its world-leading drive systems for electric and hybrid vehicles.

The company has commissioned a 65,000 sq ft facility in Rotherham, South Yorkshire to scale up production and meet growing international demand for its innovative technologies.

The privately-funded move represents a multi-million pound commitment and creates 30 highly skilled new jobs for engineers to work on projects at the cutting edge of transportation.

A refuse collection vehicle at the end of its normal working life has been repowered with an electric motor and is due to shortly begin ‘real world’ trials in Greenwich. It is hoped that ‘repowering’ will greatly extend the working life of high value commercial and local authority vehicles, and cut air and noise pollution in residential areas.
